Physically and verbally abused, Nighty was forced to get married in exchange for a dowry which was to be given to her uncle. After her family was displaced into a government camp, she was unhappy and stressed because she could no longer afford food, clothing, or an education for her children. Not only has those immediate needs been met through the KK Uganda program, but she now says that socially she has a sense of belonging with the KK Uganda family.
DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE
I dream to save money and buy a piece of land and build grass thatched huts where I will live with my children.
INTERESTS & HOBBIES
My most enjoyable activity was farming. I would plan crops like simsim, beans, cassava, potatoes and groundnuts, but now I enjoy crocheting.
FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT NORTHERN UGANDA
Northern Uganda is a beautiful place to stay in, the land is fertile, and the people are friendly. I also like Acholi traditional dances.
WHAT MAKES CROCHETING ENJOYABLE
I like crocheting because of the multiple skills that I acquired through crocheting. I have also been able to earn a living through crocheting and at times, as leisure.
